Circular Influence

2015. Every morning, when I stand grounding in my backyard, I observe my little world and notice the beauty, both big and small, around me. I'm particularly taken with the patterns on the tall sides of our concrete patio, made by years of water runoff and dirt and moss. The cracks in the concrete, the odd shapes of the concrete and how the silt patterns form around them, draw my eye every morning.

Recently, my husband took a pressure washer to the patio and wiped it all away. It's now a clean slate but, thanks to the great amounts of rain we've had, I've noticed the patterns starting to emerge! I will get more paintings out of this, which will become part of a new body of work, "Beauty in the Breakdown".
